I was on the look for some Beavers and thought i would give reflections a try .

Didnt find any beavers ( but i am still on the hunt ) . But i know that they are in this area ..
Nice shot, I love reflections. Do you know why is the image blue?
To be honest , i dont. The sun was still real low and i used a " long " shutter speed . I think this is why . But i like the blue in it . To me it feels cold and a little bit " spooky " . I know that its not the best shot to put in the showcase area . But i really liked that i got the shot that i was looking for " finnally ".Big Grin

Oh yea i forgot to mention i saw a few Canada Geese fly by as i was putting my gear up , and missed a great shot Rolleyes:mad:
I'm wishing there were a little bit more blue in the sky to balance it out. But other than that its a good photo, I like the reflection- just like a mirror!

There will be plenty more shots to come drake, so don't be too hard on yourself!
Drake:

People that have been here a while have seen me suggest this many times - but here goes again. Reflections, are by their nature a surreal thing - the real picture is not the reality but the reflection of reality - the "subject" is not the subject if you follow what I mean. In this situation, I sometimes flip the shot - it makes the unreal real...and a so-so shot sometimes takes root.

Feel free to discard this idea..

Toad there is a funny story about " flipping " the photo. When the pictures back from the lab , i couldnt figure out what was wrong with my lens, i kept seeing these smudge marks , and was getting mad . ( if you are following me ). Then i realized that the picture was up fliiped around . The algee ( sp ) floating in the water was making me think that there was something wrong with my lens, I like the idea but doesnt it distract your eyes?

Schell,
thanks for your comment , i tend to get hard on myself ( and the wife gets on me all the time for it ). This is a place that i drive by all week long . And have been wanting to shoot if for a while. And had a chance to go . There will be more to come soon. I feal like my photography is getting better everytime i grab my camera , so i still excited when i pick my pictures up LOL .

Thanks ........ Shawn
I also think your photography is getting better consistently Shawn. Big Grin

This shot is beautiful. The blue cast really gives it a uniqueness that suits the bare trees and still water, and while I normally cringe at such a blown-out sky, in this case it really suits the bleak nature of the shot. If the shot had been less exposed (to bring detail into the skies) then it would've lost all the lovely detail in the trees, so in that sense I think it has been handled very well.

So this is a scan from a print? How large was the print? And does it look much better in real life?

Cheers
Adrian

the photo was scanned by the lab and put on CD , and the res. isnt very high . But it does look better on the " proof " . I think that i am going to enlarge this one . Why ? like i said earlier i like the " feel " of this picture . and it will keep things " fresh " in my mind .

once again thanks ............ Shawn
Beautiful trees, and reflections, Shawn. The still water is very beautiful... I like the blue too!
Thank you ST ,

I am going back to try the railtoad shot again. This is in the same area . The water is pretty calm there on a regular basis . More to come ( fingers are crossed ).Wink
