I brought a paper lantern, stand and lightbulb all for under $10 US
Here is my setup

Just using the lantern (at night)

Using the lantern and flash bounced of the ceiling as a fill

i've only had a quick play, and I think i should use a reflector on the right hand side next time, but hey, for $10 bucks not bad!
its pretty much impossible to get consistent colour though. I guess if you shot raw you'd have a better chance. I used the tungsten white balance.
