Just spotted the press release on the sigma website - the 70mm f/2.8 EX DG has been announced! It features 1:1 macro magnification, and is equivalent to 105mm in 35mm terms.

Also, Sigma already have a 70-200mm f/2.8, but last week they came out with the 70-200mm f/2.8 Macro which gives a magnification of 1:3.5

Yummy! Big Grin
Hi ST. Question
A macro lens with a magnification of say( 1:2 ) Is it twice as big as reality or 1/2 size.
i.e. what does 1:2 equate to .
LIARS! 1:3.5 is in no way "macro." True macro is 1:1 - lifesize (something 1cm in real life will take up a full 1cm of the actual film frame.)

Most manufacturers also have 1:2 (1/2-size) lenses they call "macro" but 1/2-size is 1/2-size ... though a small extension ring or CUL would get you there easily enough.

But 1:3.5? Gimme a break!

The 70mm macro lens could be interesting though. Wink
