About a year ago I bought some HP Semi Gloss paper for my ink jet and discovered that my Epson printer will not print on it. The paper didn't absorb the ink. I didn't throw the 100 sheets away figuring that a miracle would come along and make it useful.

Today I tried the HP paper printing black and white photos with my wife's HP LaserJet 6L printer and low and behold I got photo quality black and white prints. The laser printer only prints at 600 dpi but the appearence of the print belies that on the paper. They come out beautiful with a sheen like I used to see on gravure printed books.

I am so happy because I found a really cheap way to print black and white.
That's great Don - never thought of using ink jet paper on a laser.
Really works. Of course this is laser printing. You can see fine dots in the image when you use a magnifying glass. It's about the same resolution as a fine gravure press. I compared it with the prints from my old Life Magazine photography series. They are almost identical in look.
Interesting idea... Smile

I remember trying to print photos with a laser at 300dpi... it wasn't very pleasant at all. Your idea sounds great though...
I was told by Hewlette Packard that it may ruin the laser printhead--so don't do this. I bought some glossy laser paper which works almost as well.
