Kurri Kurri, NSW during the late 1800's was a busy coal mining town. These days its a quiet country town and to make the town a tourist destination, it was decided to paint murals on some of the buildings, some of them depicting the history of the town. Below is a sample of the work.

1. This one depicts a coal miner and where he worked.

2. A coal laden train with the pit etc in the background.

Fascinating Pat! Amazing what stories can be told by just looking at public artwork...

This is a great treasure indeed, especially the heritage and history being depicted...

Thanks for sharing!
Very cool series, Pat. I really like #5 - but not sure that I would want it on my building...
Great series - all are good.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments, I took pics of the fun murals and will post them later on Smile

I love seeing these murals each day, they've really added something to the town, & there's been less graffiti since they were started too. & there's a kookaburra in all of the murals too, some are obvious, others you have to look for.
I've been past Kurri Kurri on the train before, but never actually been there. Wish I had now. Those murals are quite good.
