There is currently a flash on Ebay:

Ebay Auction

It is listed as a SIGMA-EF-430ST-Electronic-Flash-Pentax.
I want a relatively good (yet cheap) flash. The seller has answered a query on the listing stating that this flash will not work with a Pentax digital camera (I have a DS)

HOWEVER, There is another auction for what appears to be the same flash where the seller states he used it on his DS???

Ebay Auction 2

Peted (OR ANYONE) - CAN I USE THIS AS A RELIABLE FLASH ON MY DS?????
I have four flashes that work with my DS.

Sigma DG 500 Super, awesome flash, cost me $450, Plaza cameras Perth.

Pentax AF240Z, nice little tilt flash, cost me about $20, Ebay.

Pentax AF260Sa, basic AF flash unit, cost me about $20, Ebay.

Incablitz Automatic 280Z, works fine, $80, local camera shop.

If the flash is marked Pentax then really I can't see any reason why it would not work, there will be a conversion factor for distances, you may need to add or subtract a little aperture.

I have found a few references where they say it will work on the digitals.

Theguy above mentions that he was using it on the DS.

Cheers.

Many thanks Pete. It will be interesting to see if the one who said its not compatible goes cheaper than the other...
Seriously if you only need a basic flash the little Pentaxes are pretty good value and would let you have a good play around. I was a bit lucky with the Sigma 500 Super, walked into the right place at the right time and had the money available but it is really more than I need a lot of the time.
