This first one was my first macro of a bee... I should have given more DOF but it was the first one... and I like the colors...
I find this one a bit better...

Agree'd with Toad. #2 is great.

Thanks Colin...
Of the second one I have some more to make a series... I am very happy because I think was the best one of that day...

Irma, great shots! I have to agree #2 is really nice. Looks like you had a very soft light, overcast ?
Thanx for sharing.

It was a sunny day, but this little one was in a shady place, but with good light...
Thanks Paul for your comment

I love the hoverfly shot Irma, the DOF worked a treat on this one - These are one of my favourite bugs to shoot but I havn't seen any for ages.
I've tried bees several times but I find they often move way too quickly for me...
You are right smarti... they move very fast and they are so small.. the best thing is to catch them when they are busy...
This place is a butterfly garden... and they have all kind of flowers butterflies and bees love... I find that it is easier to take picture in those places than at home... It seems to me that the ones living in parks are more used to people, crazy idea, but I am more successful there than at home...

Really nicely done Irma! I love #2, the bee is perfectly framed by the crown of the flower. I think the colours are really wonderful too. Nice and pastelly, yet vibrant. The amount of detail is fantastic too.
Just out of curiosity, what lens did you use?

In these two I used the canon 180mm f3.5 L macro... The lens is a beauty... very heavy (1360g) but you get wonderful bokeh..

wow, so sharp and so much detail, the 5d must be feeling pretty darn nice right about now!
