I bought one of the small Canon dye transfer photo printers today. I enjoy watching it work. The pictures come out fine. It's too bad i'm limited to 4 x 6 in. But my old Epson was too unrelaible and this one does not need the computer at all. Anyone have any experience with these.
Dye transfer.... as in inkjet?
Oh wait... dye-sub printers... I get it now. The quality is supposed to be much better than inkjet... how does it compare for you?
I have an older HP Photosmart 130 which prints great snapshots, I dont print many photos mainly family ones for family members. Haven't as yet had to replace the cartridge.
These are the small photo printers that make 4 X 6. It's reliable, silent, portable. It used a three-color process, printing each color in separate steps--first yellow, adding red, then blue, finally a transparent coat. The ink is contained on a 4 inch wide ribbon that rolls forward to expose the colors and the transparent coat.
The colors are very intense. I really like the quality of the print. The only drawback is that the print is 4 X 6 inches.
I have one of the Canon Selphy CP720 Dye Sub printers, bought for a song as they are the old model. I took one to the Austra;ian Scout Jamboree and was able to take photos and print them out straight away onto postcard stock and give them to the Scouts, they then wrote on them and attached a stamp and sent them to their parents.
Great quality, moderate cost, very convenient, limited choice of paper stock.
Also have a Canon IP5200R, choice of paper sizes and quality is fabulous, very different from the Selphy, they compliment each other.
Interesting. I was just getting fed up with the unreliability of my old Epson Ink Jet.
