Interesting - just 4 months after they launched the D40, Nikon have come out with the D40X. Only difference is an upgrade from 6mp to 10mp, faster frame to frame speed (2.5fps to 3fps) and ISO100 (previously ISO200). It's definitely a move to compete in the Canon 400D space...

I like mine. Spent two days at the beach getting to know the controls, and despite my ignorance, was able to take some passable pictures. However, I have a question. I ordered a Nikon 24-85mm F/3.5-4/5G ED-IF Autofocus Zoom from Amazon. The picture of the lens shows it to be a AF-S, G, and ED. I researched the Nikonusa web page, the SLRGear.com test page, and several seller pages, and then ordered the lens. Then, while searching through the sellers for filters, I noticed on the Sigma4Less page this little note (in red): "Will NOT work with Nikon D40/D40X Digital SLR Camera." What gives? According to the D40x manual, all "Type G and D AF-S and AF-I CPU lenses are recommended for use with [this camera]".

Thanks for your help...Sad
