I came across this cool post processing technique which is sorta like HDR on steroids, which produces a very nice saturated and dreamy like quality to photos. Apparently it was developed by Michael Orton, a Vancouver Island photographer.

Here's an example of a photo with this technique applied:

And here's the how-to:

Basically you overlay two images - one image is sharply focused and over exposed ~2 stops. The other is very out of focus and over exposed by ~1 stop. You can also extract the two from the same RAW file...

There's also a flickr group dedicated to the technique if you're interested...

Yes, I know that post processing, and I have to say that in this case shuttertalk was first than flickr... Big Grin

Here is our discussion about Orton effect that Shlejhamer started in our showcase fourm.
Cool, I'm glad you remembered Irma... Big Grin

Good to see that we beat flickr.. Big Grin
I find this video tutorial care of the flickr group you posted.

This is new to me and I really like the results...The only thing I had a problem with is when I masked out the blurred layer (to recover sharp areas) it also masked out the levels adjustment attached to that layer. It there any easy way to mask out the blur without masking the levels? (or did I miss something?)
Shane
Ignore my last comments, I think its all part of the intented results...
Heres a try on one of my older shots.

This is really great Shane... I loe the rusty color of the dry grass. So beutiful near that vivid green.... Smile
The color of the trees are great, but they looks as if they were burnt, are they so dark kind of dark gray? or it is part of the pp...
That's beautiful, Shane! Really makes your photo pop! Big Grin
Thought that I would give this a try on a really old shot, thank you for sharing this link with us all!
