Who would have thought that in this place of coal mining and waste dumpsites there was such beauty to be found?
I actually managed to find a photography club here (!), or at least this is a group of more or less ambitious hobby shooters who get together every now and then to go out on an outing.
Sunday we got up early and went to a field of peach trees, I would never have found this place by myself.
The weather was foggy, so the light conditions were perfect, and there was fresh dew covering the flowers... It's been a long time since I have found such beautiful objects.

Those are really beautiful macros, Uli...
Great you found that group to go out to take pictures...
Nice Uli, The dewdrop in #4 looks like a little planet.
So is 'Chosan' good morning?

Chosan?
sometimes they say "zao shang hao"...... is that what you meant? (zao shang= early day, hao = good)

Probably. Similar pronunciation.
What little phrases I learned in a Chinese restaurant, late at night about 48 years ago. I wrote it in a diary, which somehow seems to have survived.
May be a different dialect.

Nice pics Uli.. there certainly is beauty everywhere if you look for it.
NT73 - "Cho sun" is correct (hehe kinda hard to write the pronunciation), but it's in Cantonese (different dialect) whereas I'm assuming Uli would be using Mandarin...

That's what I thought, must be from the south.... I try to use mandarin, but even here I cannot always understand the locals

It's the same the world over.

(understanding the locals)
We eat mandarins for tea.

(funny little oranges,)
Beautiful shots, glad you are settling in and have found others with the same interests

pat, as you say that I am packing my suitcases to move to the province's capital Hefei on sunday....
This move came up very suddenly: my partner is going back to Germany on Sunday to take a break, after which he will come back. As of Monday this week, my application as an English teacher at the local University wasn't going anywhere, so that after Sunday I would not have a place to stay. That's when I called someone I know in Hefei, and she suggested I come to Hefei, they could give me accomodation and a job right away...
So next week I will be on my own in a new place in a foreign country with a terribly difficult language...:o
Is daunting the right word? But I am looking forward to it, too, just that indeed I will lose the few contacts I have just made in Huainan and again start from scratch.
But that's off topic.... Uli
I like the first shot Uli.
All the best Uli... I hope the new place and job works out...
Look on the bright side - new neighbourhood = new photographic opportunities!
But seriously, hope everything goes well!

I'm sure you will settle in OK in the new town, life is one big adventure

good luck with the move Uli.........hope it all goes smooth
Thank you very much guys!!
I looked at the Uni and the accommodation today (I will be teaching English at a Universtiy). The accommodation is ok, actually for Chinese standards really nice. As it is relatively newly built, I will be the first to move into the appartment. The only drawback is that this new campus is relatively far from the city center in a neighbourhood still largely under construction. I met my neighbour two floors down, she is a 50 or so years old lady from Ukrania :-)
I will have internet, but no DSL, will try my best to not get lost again for so long!
Uli
The lovely soft bokeh really suits the subtle soft colours here Uli.
It works particularly well as a series too.
Great job.
