I used a HDR type process to get a texture out of the image, merging a high contrast and low contrast version of the shot.

I would have just nipped off the top half-inch or so here: those textures are excellently-captured and the processing really works in tandem with the subject. I'd have that on my wall without question; well done Don, truly.
