I'm wondering what type of crop is better. Plus a general, but brutally honest critique of the photo would be nice.

Here's the photo with a tighter, more extreme crop.


I'm thinking I like the first one the best, because it shows more of a story. But I like extreme horizontals and I thought this one might be a good candidate. If you can come up with one that would work or suggest one, please do. Or maybe this one isn't a good candidate for it.

The first is a story, the second is a mystery. It depends on what you are going for. Do you want to viewer to immediately 'get' it or do want the viewer to wonder what is causing the mist?

Thanks ADK Jim. I think I like a mystery, at least that's what I was hoping for with the crop.

I like the original picture very much. I like also the idea of mystery...

My crop suggestion for the mystery version would be this.

I prefer the first photo for the story. To me the panoramic crop doesn't have enough context to really be intriguing.

I agree with Matthew - love the image.
