No comments at all? You must all be in stunned silence...
Well, I'll comment myself... I think this pic is especially interesting if you don't realize right away that's it's a tire that bug is sitting on. The colour version was really bland because it was basically all on muddy brown colour and even the bug was basically monchromatic. B&W again saves an otherwise boring photo of a bug!

Ooops, must have missed it Colin! It's a fabulous shot.... I can picture a sepia version looking really nice...

It has very black wings, much blacker than the tire itself.

Nothing like resurrecting an ancient topic!!! BUT, I have a good reason... I've decided to enter this photo in the Student/Faculty/Staff Art Show at school. It's not a competition per se, though the Dean of Arts does select his favourite and buys it for about $200! My wife (a [i[real[/i] artist) won 2 years ago.
Anyway, would you all be so kind as to take a second critical look at this shot and see if there's anything I need to do to make it better?
Also, you know at art shows and such they have the little info cards that say "oil on canvas", etc... what do you put for photography? f/#, ISO & shutter?
Also,
which matting works best... black or white?

I wish you the best! Cailean
I like the black one! The picture has more light gray tones... Black brings out your picture. Just as a suggestion... If I may... The frame could be a dark one, perhaps a very dark green or brown... I think it brings life to the picture...
I didn't want to mess your picture, I found some of mine and tried to copy the same colors you have in yours... and here is what I did to show my idea.
Just my opinion....
