A selection of my mono work, originally taken in colour and edited in Photoshop

Lothian Beach

This was taken about 20 miles from where I used to live in Scotland. Simple colour to mono conversion in Photoshop using the channel mixer. Gradient applied to the darken the sky a bit.

Cloudgate

Also know as the Chicago Bean. Used the channel mixer again to conver to grayscale, played a bit with a duo toning effect and added some grain to the image.

Edinburgh Candlemakers Row

Just down from Greyfriars bobby in Edinburgh, a lot of work in the channel mixer to get the detail and contrast, gradient applied to the sky.

Old Valve

Part of an old waterwheel in West Yorkshire, some dodging and burning to push the background out.

Edinburgh Railings

A lot of cloning on the path to remove the litter, lol. Dodging and burning again and a mild vinette applied.

Courtyard in Chicago Art Institute

Some people hated the green, some people liked it, I thought it was different from the usual duo tones use so I liked it.

Waterwheel

Another part of the waterwheel from above picture, pain and suffering in the channel mixed to keep the detail when converting to grayscale, dodging and burning as well.

Chicago Skyline

Simple duo tone I knocked up originally playing with the online edit called Picnik, hours in Photoshop creating the same result on the higher res image. Duo tones and gradient applied to give the sky more contrast.

Blackness Castle

Another place I was under 30 minutes from when I lived in Scotland, Just channel mixed and duo toned.

Chicago Lake Front

Used the Photoshop process to make this look like a model city, then applied a duo tone.

All Fenced In

A fence in Livingston Scotland, where I used to live, channel mixer and other tweaks.

hmmm, I like them! not so much the greenish tint of the Chicago Art Institute, but very much the texture of some of the ohters.

Wondering if you would want to say anything about them?

A lovely series...far too good for snapshots though!
The presentation really works well in all cases too; classy and thoughtful: I think the Chicago skyline is a stunner
