The picture was taken on "El DÃa De México", celebrated here in Germany. My first try at B&W. It's probably way overdone, but I like it - it reminds me of the old B&W movies I watched on TV when I was a kid.
Ha! I'm not insane! Graininess can be a good thing!
That is fabulous photo, guerito. Any chance of sharing your post-production techniques?
Thanks, Cailean! I used the color mixer (R/G in the 190s, Blue -190, Darken by 50%, monochrome), then added noise (Gaussian, 30%), and adjusted the Brightness/Contrast curves to something like Input 90, Output 20 (actually manipulated the curve). Done everything in PSP9.
That's very well done guerito! I think you achieved your intended effect!
Very nice photo, with they way they are dresses and the colour and grayniess of it it looks very old, I like it =) not somehing to be over used but when use in moderation could be a good technique to use =)
I love this sharp and vivid shot. Is it film or digital?

It's digital. Here's the crop from the original:
Boring shot in color, innit?
