#1 and 2 are great moments, but I have to admit that it's #3 thtat really blows me away. I can't get a shot that close and that sharp when the birds are sitting on the ground!

Progressively excellent: better than if I'd got a stuffed one and put my camera on a tripod 2 feet in front of one.

Is the touch of a halo due to contrast masking?

Thanx for the responses, Well, yes. Photographing these birds is hard as it is standing, let alone in flight, and try to get a good exposure on their white feather.
All shot with my 30D and EF 100-400 iS
