50mm 1.4 @ 1/250 8 ISO 200 Review welcome. Vote: Is it as awful as my wife says it is? Pavel [Image: Unionville-Aug-2008-w-Anglela-Dennis-and...ust-08.jpg]
I'd like to see a little cropped off of the left side to move the composition off-centre, but otherwise I think this is pretty good. I like it far more than the other reflector you shot as a 50/1.4 test subject. There's a lot more detail and interest in this one.
Thanks Matthew. Are you saying to crop of the LEFT? I was cropping the right side. I also noticed that there is a lot of cloning to do on the left. Yesterday in the haste to post I did not do it. A day later, I like this photo a lot less than last night, although I am not yet in my wife's camp and I do not hate it. Thanks again for taking time. Pavel
There's nothing whatsoever wrong with this photo. I like the very intense red tone surrounding the interesting and colourful fascets of the glass. If you look really carefully, I think you can see the reflection of the photographer and his camera in the tail light lens. Regards.....Dennis
I always said that Angela has a discerning eye.Tongue Seriously, the patterns and colors (like the blue) captured in the reflector are interesting. I'm not sure what crop Matthew is asking for, but I would retake the photo from a little further back. Not much, but enough to get in more at the top and right. Because, to me, the dark red areas, above and to the right of the reflector look like bits of an eyelid and eyebrow. If you had more of the whole taillight assembly in the photo, I wonder if that is what it would look like?
Cheers, Gary
I agree Gary. Penalty of fixed lens (laziness to step back and thus overly tight cropping) and no tripod (wifes present => no tripods). Pavel
I'd crop a bit from the left to emphasize the curves. But I suppose it comes down to a question of what the photo's about, so that's entirely your call.
