Of the two water photos, this is the more interesting composition. It feels like more thought has been put into the placement of the different elements, and there's a better feel of coherence to the scene.

I really like the inclusion of all the details in the foreground. Everything is nice and sharp with good DOF. The colours are beautifully saturated, due in part to the muted lighting from the obviously overcast conditions. No need to wory about extremes of contrast here. The Sigma lens appears to work quite well. It's on my wish list..hope to get one in December.

THANK YOU both. I expected that the other photo from BIC will be better received than this one. Just shows what I know. It was a challenge to get a presentable photo given the weather. These 2 were among the best. I appreciate your comments. More comments to come. I am having a good time in Oporto (Portugal). Pavel

Flat light was a constant battle when i lived in England, not such a problem in California.

Thank Pippin: It is Blowup's (a member here) 10-20. A sweet lens. Since than, I took delivery of Tokina 11-16. It seems to take nice crisp photos and I am very happy with it, but the lens found a home in the hands of a rotten photographer. When I have something remotly passable, I will post. Pavel
