Hi Ed
Thank you for the reply. The spots are not always in the same place and they are not on every photo. I am using a canon 1100d camera with a 70-300mm lens. I have also used a canon 55-250mm lens, and a canon 18-55mm.

I believe this are flare coming from the sun or light source. You can avoid in many ways by using either lens hood, polarizer, and position of subject or camera.

The above is a good start. Ed.

Thank you everyone for your advice on this subject. I have been out today taking photos and they are all fine. I used a hood and had no problems. Many thanks.
