Any experience with multi coated filters? Like the Hoya SMC?

I've only used the Hoya single coated ones... are the multis worth the extra money? I've heard that they're harder to clean too...

No... but whilst researching for this (a while ago, so can't remember the source), I've read a good advice... try not to get carry away with filters when you are starting out. Get the basic and built on it later on. Better to invest on other accessories like lens, flash etc

Another trick with cleaning multicoated filter is rinse it in COLD water, and wipe it with your cloth or clean tissue.

Hey good tip - thanks... gotta try it out Smile

I usually use special lens cleaning tissue, but maybe the cold water may be more effective...
