Using Extension Tubes -
Plantsman - Nov 27, 2014
Does anyone else use extension tubes? I find them to be one of my best purchases in enabling me to extend my 1:1 max macro lens, and also to reduce focusing distance when using my 70-300mm lens.
105mm Nikkor macro lens set at 1:1 life size + 20mm extension tube- image size 4288x2848 reduced to 900x598 for posting - no cropping

I have recently bought a set of extension tubes for my Canon 600D, but haven't used them yet. After seeing your photos I think I will be using them soon

Happy shooting with them Jane. I don't think you will be disappointed with your results.
Remember - if you should want to stack all three the slightest movement will blur your image. Tripod is of course essential and a focussing rail is a useful addition.

When I first became interested in macro, extension tubes were the first thing I bought. Now that I have a macro lens, the extension tubes are still useful with it.
Jane, if you do want to buy a focusing rail, you might look at the ones by Link Delight -
http://www.linkdelight.com/buy/focusing+rail.html. I have the "four-way" unit and I am very happy with it, and they are certainly a lot cheaper than ones from other suppliers. Yes the build is excellent - they have never given me any problems.
