So, I try a variety of acoustic strings......
Some are £8 a pack, then some off Fleabay are £2 a pack.
Do I hear a difference of £6???
No.
What acoustic strings do you favour??

Rufus - often the difference in strings is how long they last. May sound the same today - but in six months how do they sound?

I used to use Rotosound, and mainly left them on till they broke. 12 months - 3 years. A little wd 40 on a cloth to rub them with once every 6 months or so.
The difference will only be noticeable to you, and not your audience.
One guitarist I used to work with could purchase (and did) many guitars and within a few days could make them sound exactly like the one he had traded in.
