I am developing a bad bag fetish. Unsatisfied with the back pack solution, I bought a small carry-on travel bag on sale for $15. With slight modificatiosn, I think I have a reasonable case for all my gear now (except the tripod).

I put my utility belt (that i bught before) into the case and fascined it in with velcro.
added a foam rubber bottom also fastened in with velcro to the floor of the bag.

I added a strap to stabilize the case around by waist. It feels like a back pack with the convenience of a side case.

I know..sometimes the littlest things can give us pleasure. As a bargain-hunter myself, I strongly believe in my NOT getting a bespoke camera bag: it's as though manufacturers think of a number, double it and add to the price of a bag. I've numerous "custom" bags for cameras. One thing I'd advise caution about though, Don: I'd try and make sure that whatever strapping goes under the bag if possible...there's a lot of additional strain just on that one point.

Thanks. It's an over night bag. I'll keep my eye out for stress signs.

That's the fetish. Since I was a kid I have been making things out of paper clips and scotch tape. I never did very well with wood and other solid tuiff.

I have more camera bags than I have cameras -- and that's saying something. The quest for the perfect bag is a common and enduring one. There are four that I use on a regular basis, and I've bought many more over the years.

The good news is that my girlfriend is even worse than I am...
