Computer for digital photography
#1

Hows your computer setup now?
What does it consist of?
What do you think would be best for photo editing (post-processing, stitching large panoramas)?
Why are macs better? (subjective)
Are you planning to upgrade soon? or buy a new one?
What are you planning to get?
Is your monitor calibrated?

For me, I think that lots of RAM is needed Smile heeheee

basically..
ram is essential for your computer to run at maximum capacity ...
Macs are good ... cause they have alot of power...
but still ..
i dont like using them ...
probably from bad experiences with the iMacs ..

The iMacs in the maths computing labs probably give MACS a bad name. It makes people hate macs....

Haven't you seen the two buttoned mac? lolololol
They used have have Quake in the macs on the 1st floor of engineering building, but then Nathan removed it Sad

When I see the good macs, they are used for music-making or image-editing, like multimedia things.
Are they much better in that way?

I really oughta get more RAM.... hmmm, how to sell that one to the missus... Maybe I could convince her that if I get more RAM, I won't have to spend as much time on the computer.... hmmm.

AMD 2.0
80G
512 MB Ram
Onboard GFX and sound (Nforce2)
17" LG monitor
Scanner, printer

That's my desktop, but it's mostly used by my wife, as I use my laptop (wireless) of the time. Heheh Smile Sometimes the colours aren't quite right on the laptop though.

In terms of additional stuff, I was thinking of getting a graphics tablet...

For me, I don't use my desktop any much at all! Smile
I'm just like shuttertalk, tapping away wirelessly on my laptop Smile
And I agree abou the colours not being right, so I plugged in an external monitor for whenever I want to do colour-ful stuff. But even the monitor seems to have strange colours.

So my current setup:
Intel Pentium M 1.4GHz
60gb HDD
512mb RAM
12.1" display
Optical mouse with glowing blue scrollwheel
Educational mousepad
Onboard graphics and sound
