They were built around 1876-1885.

What's the story of this building, Craig? Regards, Jeff

Just a thought, I like the colour version but very much like the slightly heightened sky dynamic Ed has introduced - could that be done? Even a bit stronger perhaps?

The buildings are in the Ghost town of Bodie, Ca.

Bodie was a Mining Town established in the 1870's and the red brick building was a hotel, the wooden structure served several purposes over the years. The last people left the town in the 40's, with the final resident leaving in the 60's. The entire town is now a state park, with park rangers living in some of the houses. Teh town is kept in a state of arrested decay.

I like the first image - conveys the sense of arrested decay... good to see the original colours as they fade away with the passage of time and the elemental actions... If anything I may have added a little contrast to deepen the mood... but it works just fine as it is.
