Correct... and I used a polarizer filter to "enhance" the effect

Hey nice.. interesting colours!
Only suggestion would be to get more of the beatiful sky in and less of the shadowy black stuff.. i.e. the horizon could be lower in the frame. But good job!

thanks ST... will take that on board

Jul 26, 2004, 05:42
yeah ..always thinking of the rule of thirds
the rule isnt all mighty and absolute .. but it works good most of the time ^___^

Thanks Rufus... I like the edited photo... very nice. True professional...
Thanks Lak. You'll probably get better sunsets in Perth... Freo, Scarborough... etc. I used 18-70mm AF-S DX f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED Zoom-Nikkor Lens, Nikon D70 body.

Hi,
I was invited to check out ShutterTalk by a new friend in Ryze. I'm just a novice in field of photography. I just love to shoot photos. This was taken with an Olympus Camedia 4000C. This is a beautiful sunset on the Oregon Coast at Netarts Bay. Some of the clouds almost looked menacing. Would like some critique...please be gentle. Blessings, Debbie

OooOO ..
thats quite a nice photo .. love the clouds ... alot of us here are also amateur so no need to feel shy about posting. btw. Welcome to shutter talk! only thing i can think of is that it might be a little nicer if the horizon was a little bit higher . but i don't think it will make that much of a difference...

Hi Debbie, and welcome to Shuttertalk!
That's an awesome photo - great colour and definition in the clouds... Looks like the exposure is just spot on - the unessential objects in the foreground are perfectly exposed as shadows which don't detract from t he image.

I appreciate your comments!

On the subject of sunsets.... how about a sunrise?

Hey, nice one jericho... those shots with the sun in the frame are quite hard to do, and to get the exposure correct.
Any tips?
