My "Niece" Danielle
#1

Once Sylvia and I are married, Danielle here will have to call me Uncle Keith.

While the extended family were all vacationing together at South Padre Island I got the idea to sneak her away for a quick portrait session.
This was the best shot, and I gave her mother a framed 8x10" print as a birthday gift.

Off-camera flash was camera-left at 3 to 4 feet, an optical slave triggered by my hotshoe flash.
For my first attempt at off-camera flash for portraits I think it turned out reasonably well, although of course there's room for improvement and I need more equipment that is better suited to the job.

And PracticePracticePractice.

Beauty for sure!

She looks relaxed and happy.

Id say you did very well given the equipment and practice.

A easy fix would be a reflector camera left close the subjects chin. Just to lift the shadow side a little.

Thanks, Paul.
You're a master at this stuff, so I really appreciate the kind words.

I plan to do more of this (mainly for rock bands) so I'm looking at getting a manual flash and radio triggers as soon as possible, then umbrella and stand, and reflectors....snoot....gels.....it really starts to add up.

Sounds really cool.

Yes lightning gear tends to add real fast. Big Grin
