It's an interesting article, but this is nothing unusual. Consder the famous photograph of Saddam's statue being toppled:

I think the language in the Protest Photo article is more illuminating than the photograph: the author decries 'communist groups that have been organizing rallies for decades'. Taking the analysis further, and this is a direct quotation, the author/photographer declares of the subject: "the girl was part of a group of naive teenagers recruited by Communist activists to wear terrorist-style bandannas".
Naive teenagers.
Communist Activists.
Terrorist-Style.
I could go on, but won't.
