I've been away from the site for the last 8 months or so, I've lost interest in just about every aspect of day to day life and am battling to get back into at least some of it.

So I bought new gear! I got three new lenses, Canon 85mm 1.8, Tamron 70-200 2.8 G2 and the mother of all super zooms, the Sigma 150-600mm Sport.

The sigma is a monster of a lens, here it is compared to my original Sigma 50-500, the Bigma... it's going to have to change it's name!

Nothing unusual about a shot of Old Faithful when out in Yellowstone in September.

However, it did amuse me to learn that, pre-Park days, the old pioneers  did their laundry by throwing it in and having it pop out clean 80 minutes later.

After 3 days wandering the caldera of Yellowstone I left the Park via the Beartooth Highway and accidentally timed the summit at sunrise.

Along with the other 21 things going on in my camera bags, I have decided to venture into a rangefinder. I have picked up a camera that is 60 yrs old. (just a bit younger than the glacier that will be holding it) It has a 'good' reputation and very innovative features for that era. I have bought a Konica IIIA. I picked it up at a second hand store for $26.00cad , and it is mint. Lens cap is missing, as is the hood. It has spent considerable time in the REAL leather case, that does not 'smell' of a basement.  I plan on sending it out for some cleaning and adjustments. My wish is to use this with my A7 for street shots in B&W. My challenge is..what film to use. I have not touched a roll of film in 20 years and a lot has changed...any ideas?
P S.. If anybody has a lens cap and hood (or a parts camera) that they would be willing to part with I would be interested.

If you need to do extreme upsizing of images, the new Topaz A.I. Gigapixel might interest you. I prepared some examples comparing it to Photoshop's and ON1's results.

PS: I received an email today asking why I hadn't also tested BenVista PhotoZoom Pro 7 against Topaz Gigapixel. Well, here you go ;-)

Out on the motorcycle generating a 100 km/hr breeze to stay cool, the collection of red barns in a golden field caught my attention.  So I drew the iphone.

Please can you tell me if you have had messages on Photoshop PSE14 "insuffient ram could not complete" and on pressing ok tells me " needs an integer of 50 to 8"  All this then freezes the whole computer until I switch off.  Any answers please?
