Janika Wrote:Couple of questions; Do we have a gallery here, or we just have to import the links from other sites? What is the maximum number of images and size I can post in one thread?

Is this server located in Australia? Noticed it loaded a lill slow last night, but today was better.
G'day John.. for posting in forums, you can upload images using the [ img upload ] button (next to Quote), which will let you upload images up to 150kb to our server. I find sizes around 640 in width are optimal, as larger will cause viewers to scroll a lot, and you can't take in the whole image at once.

As for number of images you can post in a thread, there's no maximum really, but I find that if you post a lot then (1) it takes longer to load them and (2) people tend to gloss over them and not give each one the individual attention they deserve. But if it's part of a series - say photos from a wedding for example, then it makes sense to put them in one. Personally I find around 4 images to be optimal... what some people do with a lot of photos is to either split them up into different threads, or also post a couple first, wait for replies and then post more in the same thread to keep it going (which seems to be a pretty effective technique IMHO).

For your own "portfolio", you can upload images to the gallery as Colin suggested...

The server is located in the US, by the way. I'm considering moving hosts to one with more space and a faster backbone... stay tuned! Big Grin

Thanx Pawderator for the info. Well now that I am here again and look outside, I can tell you that we have a white out and should have another 10 centimeters by morning. It was clear all day, just started coming down.

hi everyone

Hi! My name is Deb and I love nature photography. I am learning more about portrait photography and having a blast. I work fulltime for a county probation office, but play in photography every chance I get. I have been married for 28 years, with three boys, four grandsons and one granddaughter. All but two of the grandkids live out of state, so the two that live here in Georgia with me, are trained to pose everytime a camera comes into view, as their mother and I both are photographers. We even have the same Nikon D70s camera. It's dualing nikons all the time, but such fun.
hi Deb

welcome, hope to see some of yuor work. feel free to comment and ask.

greetings and salutations to all the new comers. don't worry about your gear, doesn't matter how much electronic brain power is packed into your camera, it still can't take a single picture, it's the person behind it that does.

Hi Frank and welcome... I think we have a thread floating around somewhere with all our mugshots ... try searching for "Shoot the photographer" or something like that.

As for pics... technically unlimited, but do keep it to a reasonable amount. Feel free to start your own threads to post pics...
Welcome frank. Good to see some shots already.Smile
Buenos Dias and Hello from South Texas.
My name is Keith, and I found this place by following a link that Matthew carelessly left sitting out in the open.
I use the Sony F717, PS 7 and NeatImage.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone here.
